Fallout 76, the game that promises nothing and delivers every bit of that.

I have been anticipating a new Fallout game, as I am sure many others have as well. It seems that it is becoming more popular to make games with nothing in it, however. We went from a story driven, open world, rpg apocalypse game, to a game that is open world. That is it, it is open world with no story, no real rpg elements, and seems just like a democratic run town than an apocalypse.

I will be forgoing the purchasing and playing of this game, as it is far from anything further than a video game world tester that you have to pay for.

What are your thoughts of the Fallout 76 direction? Perhaps you prefer the open world pvp and no story? Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean the new direction of the Fallout franchise is not to your liking.

I'm not buying this. Hugely disappointed that they decided to go in this direction. Fallout 4 wasn't the best. They've gone downhill since fallout 3.

When it's hugely discounted I might consider playing it in the future. I suspect it will be a game that will get better with age and expansion packs.

I enjoyed 3 and 4, but when I learned that the game is played online ONLY, I immediately was turned off.

If they added the ability to have a local 2nd player / split screen OR  multi-player option for a LAN connection I would have been more enthusiastic.

Most online games don't interest me as 99% of the people above age six are better than I am.  A game gets boring when you end up being cannon fodder for the rest of the online gaming community.

The trailer is hot.  If my brother says it is junk.  It is junk.

They did the same to Halo! The next day I gave my X-Box to my nephew!

That was Microsoft's first shot over my bow of independence, their last and final shot was Win-10

The best review of Fallout 76.

It's not looking good at all for this game. Most early reviews are absolutely slating it. Don't think I've ever seen such bad reviews. Check out the video review from Jimpressions, kinda funny:

Who'd buy this when there are so many good releases out in run up to Christmas. Soulcaliber is much more satisfying.

Once again proving that only Japanese video games seem worth buying nowadays.

Great videos guys.  I am glad my first intuition was correct, and I will be saving my money for something else.

Too bad, they had a good thing going.

Well, I was recently offered a free entry into the game, as part of some kind of promotion. I also found that I am not the only one to say no to that offer. Then, there are people who want to return the game so badly, that they act irrational.

Hilarious performance, Bethesda! Let´s take this opportunity to highlight the great work and channel of the Internet Historian! 😆

Lol, this is funny as fuck, a real life GameFly moment.

The videos on Fallout 76 have all been golden. There is nothing good about the game and it was a complete failure of a scam attempt of the gamer market. EA did it better, but their time has come as well. It is all a gimmick to give you nothing and make you pay extra for it. Bethesda was just trying to make up for lost time of not participating in the micro-transaction scam market.

Bought this game and hate it! Feel ripped off. I tried to like it TRIED! but it is bad.

Upon stumbling over this thread for the first time, I wondered as to the harshness of Uly’s verdict.

Gee, I thought to myself, it must be just another glitchy (Bethesda) Fallout game, probably as glitchy and buggy as every Fallout game that has come before it, so what’s the fuzz all about?

Well, this one is exceptionally poorly executed not only in Fallout standards. Turns out it is a veritable mess and a big fuck you directed at the players/fans of the franchise.

It is actually so bad, that it serves as a showcase for corporate greed and lies. It is an example of how fans of a franchise do get milked like cows, while being treated like shit.

It is inspiring me to do some research on that topic, because here we have a clear pattern emerging in the wider entertainment markets: a more or less successful ripping off and capitalizing on consumers expectations of a product.

Selling ‘the dream’, the expectation, the idea and enthusiasm that stems from the consumer himself, while delivering next to nothing - well, promises and eye candy, mostly.

There are a lot of examples of this and the occurrence of them has recently become more prevalent, so consumers are well advised to do their own research on any product of interest to weed out the garbage.

’Star Citizen’ is now 7 years in development- and has raised next to  300 Million $’s for it.

The ‘game’ (that surely will be around, before mankind colonized another star system) offers you a space ship bundle for 27.000$.

That offering is exclusive, of course, as you have to at least spent 1.000$ on other ships in advance “to qualify” for the 27k offer.

You better buy insurance and stuff for your ships, as well.🙂

I feel like my games are betraying me. I want to enjoy a fun game when I have time. I feel like they use games to preach to me. I would go to church if I wanted that.

There is a game for that too.

Reminds me of Silent Hill. Classic and top rated game.

It saddens me but I have never played Silent Hill. Its Cousin the Evil Within taught me what hell really was. I still need to buy the second installment.

Never played the Fallout series but the story is the biggest reason I will buy a game. The story makes the game! You've seen games with terrible features but an amazing plot and they still hold up today. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 remains my favourite game for this reason.
