Steam, Console, mobile or other. How do you like your electronic games?

Video games have many different interfaces. From the arcade to the personal computer, from the mobile phone to the console, there are many ways to enjoy electronic gaming. I personally play Steam games majority with a few mobile games that I will tag once in a while. What style of gaming do you enjoy most? If you could tell a gaming company how to reach you, what interface would be the one you choose?

I, of course, prefer steam power. In my computer games, as well. There are many wonderful mods available for such games as Civ 5 and Skyrim Special Edition that greatly enhance the game, and make the old familiar game new and interesting again.

If I had the money I'd set up a three panel HD display in a custom cockpit with surround sound and flip down tray for munchies and drink holder!

Id say a powerful computer with a kick ass graphics card! I hate herky jerky choppy choppy or low resolution.

Uly,  I prefer consoles as my platform of choice due to not having to jack around with hardware.  I also play Rome-Total War on my iPad.  It's addictive.

I'm in a campaign against the Macedonians in support of a faction ally.  The Macedonians have a much more powerful Navy than we do which is presenting a challenge, but I have two legions knocking on their back door now after marching overland and seizing a city for the glory of Rome as my forward base.  They undermanned this Macedonian city's defenses to attack one of my faction allies so I'm going attack with both legions.  The defensive walls are well built so the siege is going to be long.  It's a classic pincer movement that we Romans are pulling on them.  The battles are going to be very costly.

After that, I will attack Spain which is a tough nut to crack.  My western fleets are much more powerful than my eastern fleets due to the Macedonian's chewing them up.  I just blockade ports and harass them in the East.   I can't chance losing the Western fleet in the Macedonian campaign as it's vital to assume control of Spain.  I've four legions on board plus three legions on land for that invasion.

🙂 🙂 🙂 Happy thoughts make happy slaves 🙂 🙂 🙂

I like em on my PC, only since a few years I play very little.

I found out, that every once in a while thinking about how I could play a game (a lengthy strategy title: Supreme Commander from 2007) is good and fast entertainment in itself.

Not kidding, it works.

Rome Total War and Civilization are among my top 5 games of all times!

I’d supposedly be filthy rich, if someone would have paid me a little for every hour sunk into them.

PC for me too Uly.

I'm far from an experienced gamer and often stick to the older PC games. I play the same one's over and over when I'm bored.

I loved Rome:Total War. The first couple of times I played it, the game took me weeks to complete. Then I found out that there were cheat codes, which ruined it for me because I can't play it anymore without cheating!! 😕

And it's not much fun playing when you have a legion of armoured elephants fighting against 40 confused peasants armed only with toothpicks.

I have to say no thanks, still prefer a strategy board game or 6-7 member RPG.

Got myself a 4k screen for gaming on PC, I like ARPG's, MMO's and other RPG's. Also like PS4 for games like Spyro and will probably buy the Crash team racing game when that comes out.

@Don:  The iPad version has no cheat codes which do ruin the game.  I am my own Federal Reserve when I play it on Steam. They've also improved the graphics vastly.  I so wish they'd redo this game for PC.  It's a gem.

I got bought Napoleon Total War by an ex (before she realised how long I spent playing the original)

Could never get it loaded on my PC though. Rubbish computer...with an even more rubbish operator of said computer.

Electrical items in general are my nemesis, mainly computers, but given time I will accidentally destroy anything and everything with a plug or a battery!! 😀

Napoleon TW is a bag of horse dung, Donkey! You do not need a better PC for it, because no matter how much better the PC will be, it simply won´t make a better game out of it. Unfortunately. It failed, because it basically made the same mistakes Rome Total War 2 made. It fails in processing and showing collisions of units (be prepared for the most dull cavalry charges of all times), it has an unbelieveably bad and hilarious way of processing and showing melee combat (soldiers can ONLY fight 1 on 1, LOL).

The original is so much fun, because it does this way better. Cavalry charges throw infantry around the place and have a visible impact and gravitas to them - and 300 men do not wait doing nothing, while one of them is fighting the last enemy soldier, alone. They rather attack from all sides and make their numbers count.

Thanks Macha...

Looks like I've saved myself a lot of effort for not much reward then. I'll stick with the original.

Many of the remakes and new games have political or social agenda put into the game, which kills the experience. I find myself enjoying older games more than newer ones. In doing so, they often forget the plot of the game and take out key elements to fit in their snide comments and illustrations. Most of the games that I like are on PC though, so I ended up ditching the consoles. It was getting to expensive to keep buying new consoles, considering a pc will last a decade or more before you have to worry about it. The Consoles change out about every 4 years and limit the gaming experience in the games I enjoy most, like Fallout, Badlands or other open world sandboxish games.

GTA5, pulled from Australian shelves because SJW's bitched and CRIED!

Their "feels" have gotten so loud and so often it makes me squirm inside! Truly sickening! Like listening to screaming babies 24/7/365, that is until you light the proverbial orphanage on fire!

Burn motherfucker, BURN! No remorse, no empathy, just a soothing relief felt deep down inside!

I like console for the majority of games for ease and less hassle / bugs.

I like steam for the type of games that you don't really get on console like strategy games and some types of rpg. There's just no way you can pull off something like endless space 2 on a console without a mouse and keyboard and games like that don't tend to be available on console anyway.

Whilst I do like consoles for their ease of access and do think they have their benefits. I think a lot of console games are becoming generic roll out, with probably the exception of Japan. I'm looking forward to Sekiro.
