Regularly scheduled activities are important.

Regularly scheduled activities that include playing board games forces one to focus, be creative, learn and exhibit patience, be collaborative, develop critical thinking problem solving skills and develop resource management skills.  Big Picture thinking is developed and encouraged, while negotiation skills are sharpened by the necessary strategy and tactics involved during game play.

Communication is a basic human need, board game playing allows this to happen in a structured environment.

Just look at the resurgence of Dungeons & Dragons, role playing remains relevant 40 plus years after hitting the market.

Need I mention Chess, Go, Dice .. need I mention more?

Regularly scheduled activities are important.

I call them "seasons". Every season has its own set of special activities to it. Its akin to a pagan view of the cyclical world - and its holy days signalizing the end of one sequence and the begin of another. There are many different cycles, which are similar to the seasons. Cycles of all kinds.
