It appears bacon is the common denominator!
You know those mini cabbages? Brussel sprouts? They fucking suck any other way than baked and wrapped 360 in all directions, double wrap with tooth picks holding the bacon sphere together is all the better!
Otherwise they go in the fucking TRASH!
This sample photo is absolutely crying to be wrapped like gyro or a mushroom over cheddar with more cheddar melted on top!
I had brussel sprouts for the first time a couple years ago. Once blanched (steamed until slightly soft) fry them in a skillet with a little olive oil, butter, salt, bacon, onions, and garlic.
I have also put them on the grill in a cast iron pan with the same ingredients. Absolutely wonderful if you like cabbage.
I have also canned them like garlic dill pickles. Amazing with a bloody mary. I blanch them (partially boiled) then "cold packed" them like making refrigerator pickles. Still a bit crisp, but not raw.

Jan, I'm using your bean recipe for dinner tonight.
I marinated chicken breasts with turmeric, ginger, salt, garlic powder, cumin, and lemon juice. I will bread them and bake in the oven. Served with mushroom rice and a side of Jan's beans, it will be a gastronimical experience!

Brussel sprouts are ok if steamed. It's when they are over boiled and soggy that they are not nice.
I steam the Brussel Sprouts for 15min then add sliced yellow onions, steam another 10 minutes and add green peppers and squash. Seasoning and/or smoked meat with Brussel Sprouts also helps a lot. When the squash is tender, decant and cover with shredded cheese. Easy to cook while I surf the internet, and reheats well.
For a simple cookout on the grill, I use this potato salad as a side dish as well.
reduce this down over medium heat for a great side dish.
