I prefer a synthetic oil.  This stuff is like Pam spray for your gun.  It is a CLP, so use it like you are used to, but use LESS.  This shit creeps into the pores of the metal and seasons the metal like cast iron.  The more you use the less you have to.  Dirt wipes right off.  The lubricity is insane and will revive the most stubborn Remington 742 Jammo-Matic!

Check out his link below, it points to their gun lube page.  It has all sorts of data and information about their product.

Central Guns and Ammo: Product Review: Slip 2000 cleaning ...

DOES NOT Contain any Silicone or PTFE (Teflon*) type ingredients and never gets sticky or tacky. Does not attract dust, dirt or grime like a petroleum product. (* Teflon is a registered trade name)

Its just like seasoning a frying pan, the more you use it, the less anything will stick!

Slip 2000 Gun Lubricant was designed and formulated with multiple uses and extreme high performance requirements and conditions in mind. Slip 2000 Gun Lubricant will out perform all other Lubricants in its class in sever weather conditions, high humidity, rain, sleet, and snow working from -130 deg. F to + 1250 deg F

Bought some of this at Old Bucks recommendation and it is very nice when compared to US Army issue CLP

Is there a video bout how to clean a gun? How often do I have to do it? The store was out of my rifle so they told me they have to order it. They tried to make me buy another but I don't have that much money. They told me they have to call me when it comes in. My mom said it have to stay at my dads but thats totally okay with me. Do I need to one of those screwdriver things?

When you say screw driver thing? Can you be more specific. I would recommend a bore snake in your caliber chosen, Remington gun wipes, and hops gun oil. For scrubbing the outside a firm toothbrush will do the trick. I have used that combo since the military. I am sure Old Buck could give you more instruction, or possibly correct a few of my errors.

I assume that he is talking about the rod, that Old Buck linked. I agree that Hops 9 appears to be the best oil on the market for my needs, and seems like an all around best oil as well. I have never seen or used a bore snake in the military, but they do look easy enough to use and possibly the most logical. Rock on, Zasta.

Bore snakes are now an issued item for many U.S. Army Drill Sergeants at Ft Jackson. Don't know if it's a private purchase that is then issues or not, but it does help protect the bore as Old Buck mentioned.  I have one each for my gear, easy to use and knocks cleaning out at the range.  A detailed parade rest cleaning can then be put off a little longer.

Was a private purchase for me. We where taught if you wanted decent gear other than your body armor and rifle you bought it yourself.  I will second that with slip2000.  Haven't received it yet.

You can't give them gunsmith secrets out in the open like that!  That is like showing how Penn & Teller do their gags!

Ha Old Buck.  You and T.E.G. know better than most that the simplest of functions can and will be screwed up by those who "know just what to do"! Gunsmiths will be in business much longer than there is ammunition to expend.

I am enjoying the shared knowledge. Just a sponge, soaking up knowledge of many new things that I never knew.

On the advice of an actual gunsmith, for cleaning I use a product like Balistol and use 20w50 motor oil as the lubricant on the rails of my pistols.

I thoroughly clean and lubricate after each use.

For my K31 it's Balistol to clean. I can get a product called Waffenfett for long-term storage (it's a type of black grease which thick and sticky as hell), but I tend to go to the range every few weeks, so they're never in storage for long.

Nice rifle. It looks like it will be a fun gun to shoot.

A properly cleaned gun can last a year in storage before needing another oiling, but it really depends on your environment.  If you live near the ocean, there will be a lot of salt in the air, and you need to clean more often.  Live in a high humidity area?  Yup, oil her more.  Live in the desert?  All that sand and dust needs to be cleaned out more often.

I try to clean after every trip at the range, or at least the weekend after...

After sighting in a rifle for hunting I WON'T clean it until after the hunt is over.  Oil in the bore will cause the first few shots to be different than the last you fired sighting in the rifle.  That could mean a missed shot, so I wait a week or two.

Hell, I'm also lazy.  I would clean my Glock pistol only once every year, whether I ran several thousand rounds through it or not.  Didn't care.  Damn thing ran great and that was my protection gun.  The reliability is so great that I don't need to clean it LOL.

The more you shoot, the more you will need to clean as .22 ammo is generally more dirty that other calibers of ammo.

Has this reliability made the Glock handguns so popular as a sidearm of choice among NATO officers? I guess so. Unfortunately, in my country I am not allowed to own a firearm. Only criminals have them.

we're not allowed real guns, I will have to make do with a nerf gun and foam bullets

Same here in Germany. No guns except under strict rules.

But a nerf gun full of nitric acid can do just as much damage.

That is so foreign to me.  I live in Texas.  There are gun stores and gun shows.  There are also stores like Academy that sell sporting goods and have a large gun section.  Rifles and hand guns.  Matter of fact there are at least 2 gun stores that I know if within a ten mile radius of where I live.  They're nice too, also there is a nice outdoor range.

The outlawing of firearms is something that nearly every nation around the world has pushed. I believe this is so that the masses have nothing to defend themselves as they are faced with government tyranny that diminished all those not in the top positions into open slavery.

I will agree. The 2nd amendment is one of the few that works to protects itself. "The government can't take your guns because you have guns. " -Christopher Titus

Yep!

For us to perform a basic 500 yard attack...we have to run 500 yards and kick them straight in the bollocks!!

Thanks to 40 years of smoking, I can neither run 500 yards, nor lift my leg high enough to kick someone in the bollocks.

I have to perform the less violent attack of slowly walking 480 yard - and then shout 'wanker' as loud as I can - whilst hoping that they don't chase after me!!
