The Psychology of Color and the Gender Identity Crisis Stemming from the Industrial Revolution.

In modern times we associate "pink" as associated with femininity and blue associated with masculinity.

However this was not always the case. Prior to the industrial revolution, Blue as associated with femininity due to its passive nature. Red as associated with masculinity due to aggression and self-sacrifice.

The passive, blue, was associated with receptivity. The active, red, was associated with action.

Part of this may be argued briefly as:

Blue: to the receptive nature of water as a primordial chaos from which life originates reminiscent of the womb, further reveraberating in the sky itself through which water cycles through. The sky/water dualism acts as the nurturing foundation for all life. This is further reflected in the fluidity of reasoning and values, through intuition, in female archetypes further reflected in the curvature of a body synonymous to a symmetrical wave function (curved hips, breasts, further reflecting the waves of an ocean).

Red: as the active nature of fire as a foundation of active order (fire brought about the first tools, cooked food, keeps us warm, is associated with active spirituality) and self-sacrifice (the fire perpetually dissappears to itself and reappears, no one flame is the same) further associated with blood as a driving force of life. This driving force manifests limits. This is further reflected in the rigid reasoning and values of men, through logic, in male archetypes reminiscent of the "divine fire of reason" further reflected in the angulature of a body synonymous to a triangulation (wide shoulders, narrow waste, further reflecting the triangular nature of a large fire).

Around the turn of the industrial revolution, the standard measuring scales of how man observes his relation to nature, inverted. This inversion occured where the natural rational faculties of man to work with the environment in turn took one extreme of dominance (tech revolution) or submission (hippy/naturalist revolution).

The natural order was and is fought against, by effectively mimicking it through the creation of an artificial technological womb that effectively acts as a fortress not just against natural law but the basic idea of mortality inherent within this natural law.

This technological womb effectively acts as a stifling maternal instinct negating a process of individuation within males causing an inability to direct there energy in order; further propogating a death drive inherent within not just the increase in school shootings but self-destructive behavior.

Now how does this relate to color? With the inversion of the colors associated with sexuality, came a nullification of inherent aspects of natural law exhibited through the human constitution.

Red was softened to pink and an association with aggression and empowerment in females wove itself into the societal zeitgeist.

Blue was softened to light blue and an association to passivity and disempowerment in males wove itself into the societal zeitgeist.

Over time this correlates with the status of sexuality being a means of pleasure alone, seperate from any reproductive capacity, as well as a general division between the sexes leading to a culture war we have today. Part of this has to do with an inherent identity crisis prevalent in both genders, causing a mistrust in themselves and others as projections of the self, while dually the gender roles are premised on an inherent combativity stemming from the combative stance against nature embodied by the industrial revolution.

The industrial revolution, where its prime foundation in the liquidity of metal mirrors the liquidity of water thus inverting the feminine capacity at a subconscious level, where the nurturing capacity of water to life is changed to the dominant matriarchal quality of metal as a foundation fortress synonymous once again to the womb. The feminine capacity in turn takes on an aggressive state of turning natural materials into liquid rather than maintaining them through liquidity. This feminine nature tied to liquidity can be observed in intuitive statements from men "I saw her and I melted".

This nurturing of progressive technological drive is premised further on a nihilistic value system axiomized on the reverential worship and subjectification of the objective nature of reason as a form of embodiment of phalic projectivity stemming from the dualism of Kierkegaard and Neitzche rationality both embodying, respectively, subjective feminine characteristics of anxiety and mania as pure emotion. In simpler terms the subjectification of reason effectively is an emotionalizing of objectivity. This is reflected further in the technological progress being a projection of desire over need, with the core foundation being an entertainment industry acting as a womb separating the observer from reality allowing a form of dominance to be ingrained unconsciously in the observer.

The active nature of fire as a formative quality is further inverted where its existence at super heated levels, synonymous to electricity, exists through the matriarchal technological womb where a form of inherent "sexuality" occurs in the technocratic structure under the base dualism of metal and electricity. This super heated capacity of fire, through the nature of electricity, reflects in the nature of masculinity being rerouted to an entertainment industry (sports, rap/rock, extreme sports, high energy drinks, etc.) meant to give one extreme of an "electrifying" spirituality where shock value is given premise over continuity. This is further reflected in the materialistically based pragmatic sense of reasoning where "finite" values are the base rational axioms of measurement.

This worship of "finiteness" is premised further on a nihilistic value system axiomized on the self-sacrificial worship and objectification of the subjective nature of void as a form of projected yani embodiment(argued further elsewhere) stemming from the subjective nature of space (hence "void") in kantian metaphysics that embodies reasoning as a strictly void of any objective qualities due to a strictly intuitive understanding. This is reflected further in the technological space race where man's search for interior subjective meaning is to go outside himself into an exterior void, representing a maternal primal origin, in an effort to reunite subconsciously with himself at a spiritual level by uniting aggressive tendencies (we must go to space because of man cause war and famine) with passive feminity in an effort to achieve not just balance but an inherent form of reproduction (man projecting himself into the unknown void takes on a physical sexual connotation). This is reflected through an ingrained oedipal complex at the zietgeist level where man felt oppressed by his mother (technology), effectively gains a sexual attraction because of a perceived need for identity due to his ability to individuate, and seeks to project himself to the source and reproduce.

Love ya brother.

I lack understanding.  Thats my fault not yours.

Love and respect

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at the idiots who misunderstand me! Kind mockery toward the well-intentioned and unfettered cruelty toward all would-be prison guards of my creative possibilities. In this way I learn to revel as much in misunderstanding as in understanding and take pleasure in worthy opponents. Making language fluid, flowing like a river, yet precise and pointed as a dirk, contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful verbal dance—a linguistic martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.

The Germanic tribes of old would totally agree with the color order, as described in the OP;

being red: active, warm, living, fighting, male as fuck;

and blue: passive, cold, freezing, dying, female as observed in nature.

Boom! Very well put! My favorite expression from the whole text.

As a treasure chest the OP lends itself to revisitation. Thanks!

The industrial revolution played a significant role in changing and cementing gender roles as WW2 did but The colour thing is tenuous at best  in my opinion.

The Evaluator, I can see, what you mean with ‘tenuous’. I even shared that reaction.

See, they were simple: blood is the warm and red juice of life (of course it is only red, when it reacted with oxygen, and otherwise blue, but that would not be observed by them).

Men and women have different body-heat regulation patterns, with the latter having greater trouble with the cold, as well as periodically loosing the red juice of life.

See? That simple.

Well I'm not saying he is wrong, I'm just struggling to see how  he makes such a strong connection.

I know something about the industrial revolution being from the oldest industrial economy in the world.

You beat me to it. I would like to know that, too. John Doe was not the first, who made this connection, but until now no one seems to be able to explain it.
