Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. I'm doing pretty well myself. I want to acknowledge The Evil Genius for inviting me to join this site and to you all for allowing me to join. I have known the Evil Genius since I was extremely little, and he has known my parents since they were young. You are a very dear family friend. Sorry for the lengthy introduction.

So a little about myself, I am a Christian, cowboy as well as an Eagle Scout. I am currently wrapping up college and will soon graduate with a degree in American Sign Language interpreting, ASL interpreting. I will be interpreting for people who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing as well as for Hearing people. I am a strong supporter of the Deaf community.

In the past, I have worked at a horse ranch, and continue to volunteer there when I can. I have helped train many different breeds of horses as well as many horses. I worked for many years to gain the rank of Eagle Scout. During these years, I learned that I love the outdoors, such as going backpacking, canoeing, sailing, etc. I enjoy photography, and while I am no pro, I am pretty decent with a camera. Also, I LOVE to cook anything and everything. I love to shoot guns, and currently, I own one gun, a Henry Lever Action 22. I am going to get a revolver once I graduate college and the money becomes available. Speaking of guns, I can definitely say that I am a wheelie guy, a revolver lover.

Some past times I enjoy when I am not able to be in the outdoors are watching movies, TV shows, reading, ping pong, computer games/console games, DND, and listening to music. I mostly watch Western, Sci-FY, and Fantasy movies. I enjoy TV shows like Monk, Numbers, Eureka, Person of Interest. I also enjoy anime shows like RWBY, and Sword Art Online. I also watch Fairy Tail which just FYI, gets annoying after a while. My biggest genre of books that I read are Westerns and medieval fantasy books like Lord of the Rings, and yes I have read that series while in middle school. I highly do not recommend doing that. I enjoy many types of games such as Halo, Dark souls, Assassin's Creed, and Chess to name a few. I have played a variety of DND games, but currently, I do not have a group. I have been the DM of many a games and the stories there are quite interesting. Finally, I enjoy listening to music ranging from Christian, Country, the classics like Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Chris Ledoux, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, George Strait, and George Jones to name a few. I also like instrumentals. However, I am not as big on them. I enjoy instrumentals that Epic Music World posts to Youtube. I do enjoy pop songs, and some rock, but not as much.

Again, thanks for letting me join, and sorry for the lengthy post.

Evil Genius is a very intelligent man and a great judge of character. You are in good company when with EG. You have a bright future ahead of you, having both understanding and motivation, and the education that you dedicated yourself to accomplish. Top that off with Faith and you sound to be a diamond in the rough at your age. I have been watching shows like Counterpart and Orville, though I find it difficult to get into television shows as of late. I haven't seen much of what you have, but I am intrigued. You will find that this site is growing and as it grows a lot of new discussions among these interests will appear. Feel free to create those yourself as well. I look forward to reading your posts in the future. Welcome to The Independent Man.

I actually haven't really watched wrestling or pro-wrestling. In fact, I barely follow sports in general. The biggest sport I follow is the triple crown derby, the Preakness, Belmont and Kentucky Derby to see if a horse can win all three and claim the title triple crown winner. In fact it wasn't until my last semester that I watched a football match from start to finish and go to a actual football game.

He likes horse racing......he's definitely IN!!!

Good Lad Umbra. I'm from the UK but I try to keep a bit of an eye on the big races in the US.

One of my biggest potential single wins ever would have happened if Mike Smith hadn't given Zenyatta the worst ride in racing history in the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic. The complete tit. I'd been backing her all year since she won for me so well the year before.

Welcome to the forum buddy!

Hi, Umbra Ascensor, and welcome! I am curious to hear more from your experiences with training horses and living in the outdoors. I have been a vivid DM for some years in my teens and twens in a few different groups; even though I learned (A)D&D rules as a kiddo (playing smashing Computer titles such as Eye of the Beholder) we were sporting other titles in our groups such as Shadowrun, Earthdawn, The Dark Eye; the latter -still my favorite- has just been translated into English in 2015 and is a neat system and setting.

Maybe, we run into a discussion of RPG contents, one day, LOL!

Make yourself at home.

Macha Savage, you drop both a ShadowRun and an EarthDawn reference in the same sentence? That takes me back a ways. I also participated in the table top RPG games. For you youngsters, that was what we did, back before computers.

Welcome Umbra, so you're an Eagle Scout, what do you think of the infiltration of females and gays into scouting? Personally I think it's atrocious beyond words, like everything gynosentric to come down the pike, do females get affirmative action points and a different set of rules when seeking and earning merit badges like they do everywhere else? Are the gays seeking to have gay homo badges added to the merit badge system like who can suck the longest or how many dicks they sucked? Will straight scouts be drummed out on charges of homophobia for not joining in on homosexuality?

Enough of that, you get my point!

Welcome to the last bastion where men can be what men are without being pushed and shoved out the door!

Welcome to the Independent Man, I look forward to your posts!

Welcome Umbra and it's about time that you came on board!  😎  T.E.G. has been keeping me informed about life, the universe and your family for many years and it's good that you have expanded your learning opportunities by joining T.I.M.  The knowledge available via member posts to the forum, videos, etc is amazing and hopefully will further prepare you for life after graduation.

I hope to meet you at T.E.G.'s hacienda one day soon.  Hear for the bar and get yourself a drink,  🍺 , the first round is on The Evil (but never cheap with friends) Genius ... maybe, just maybe the second round as well.  Yep, the glasses will be small but it will be free!

T.E.G., myself and others skipped the AD&D 2nd edition phase of RP'ing and we into Battle Tech and Call of Cthulhu when Eye of the Beholder came out.

Wizardry was the only computer fantasy game I ever played.  It's interesting how many T.I.M. members have some experience with gaming (Strategic, RPG's, PC, etc.)  Analytical thinking, communication, creativity, critical thinking and social skills are all developed by successful gamers, the same can be said for successful social media members.

Welcome Umbra Ascensor! I'm delighted to see you here! You will find this site is busting with useful information for the enlightened man and how to survive in an increasingly hostile world AND there is also some plain old fun!  My MGTOW brothers on the site are the BEST!

And I would like to thank my brothers for giving you a great welcome!

OH and I almost forgot---HE is a GREAT shot with a rifle or a wheel gun---we're still working on the auto loaders. And he is big into planes, trains and vehicles!

OK one other thing: Umbra is an EXCELLENT CHEF! HA he is going to give you other great cooks a run for your money!

I think I have responded to everyone in this post. If I missed someone, I am sorry.

Thanks. #MEOWMIXBIBLE, My avatar is a picture of one of my little dragon buddies, and The evil genius is a great guy. I like you little hashtags at the end of your post. They are awesome.

Uly The Cunning, I haven't watched Counterpart, but I will go ahead and add it to my list of shows to watch. I am currently watching Orville myself. It is pretty good. I do get annoyed with it from time to time due to the political standpoints in the show and how blatantly they throw different issues in peoples faces in the episodes. I'm still in season one. I think I'm about a quarter of the way in right now.

Don Keyote, I just want to say, that is not fun at all. Even though I haven’t really been in many competitions. I mostly compete in Western Pleasure when I did, but I never did that well in the show pen.

Thanks Gargamel. I will definitely make myself at home here.

What’s the name of the show your watching Travis3000?

Matcha Savage, I have had my fair share of buckers, bolters, and bombproof horses. The ones that I do not care to work with as much would probably be the bolters. They tend to bolt whenever they get scared it is not a fun ride. Buckers are not fun, but typically, if your paying attention, they will cue you as to when they will buck, and you can prevent it from happening. My favorite ones are the bombproof horses. I have helped train a few of them and we have literally dragged a tarp over their whole bodies and they just stand there like whatever. Their the fun ones personally especially if the horse is a smart one. As for those games, I have not heard of them.

MG-ɹǝʍo┴ 5811, as for the whole Scouting delemia, I am not pleased with it myself. However, that being said, I got to talk to a scout master of a Scout troop in Flordia and we discussed some of your same issues. Right now, there are Girl troops and Boy troops in BSA now. None of them are Co-Ed as of right now. As for merit badges, they should be required to complete them just like boys are with no changes to the requirements unless the changes are for everyone. I would be curious as to see if gays, lesbians, etc. will try to push for merit badges and rank requirements that center around their beliefs, desires. So far, I have not heard anything about that.

GregBO, thank you. He does do a good job at staying in touch with people and informing others what is going on around the world with other friends and families. I got to see some of the different posts while at his place over the weekend and then last night when I joined. I will definitely head to the bar at some point 😉. Small but free sounds good to me.

As for DND/RPGing, I have played 3.5 and 5e versions of DND as well as some homebrew. Currently I am working through a campaign called Caves of the Kobold Slave-Masters. This is a part of a game system called Four Against Darkness and it is a solitaire dungeon-delving game. You create your own characters then just proceed through the books like you are reading them. As your reading, you encounter traps, monsters etc. and you have to roll dice to see what happens. You also get to decide where you want to go and you can jump to those sections. It’s a single player dnd game.

Finally, Yes Evil Genius, I am pretty decent with a rifle and wheel gun, but only because you have taught me what I know. If possible, I might skip the auto loader learning. Even though I do need to be able to use one. And yes, I have decent cooking skills.

So much D&D talk in many of our threads... Makes me wish that three or four of you lived near me for some old school AD&D sessions...I still have several hundred dollars worth of the vintage stuff, an entire long shelf on one bookcase filled with the AD&D books and modules, many of which are easily valued over 50$ each. Shit, the collection is likely worth 2k+.

Welcome to TIM Umbra!

Thanks. I have all my dad's DnD stuff from the 80s. He gave me his dice as well as his 3.5e books, the Dragonlance books and so much more. Unfortunately, no one plays 3.5 anymore or at least no one in my generation does. I started the first campaign but then everyone bailed due to other commitments. It would definitely be fun to play a campaign with pros sometime. In all honesty, DnD is a classic. All you need to play is dice, paper, and a group of friends and your ready for a rpg adventure anytime anywhere.

Welcome Umbra, plus we finally got our most exalted Evil Genius back among us.  Let the good times roll!!!

Some of the best times we had back in the eighties were had sitting around playing classic D&D.  Sadly, we lost our main DM to cancer about 10 years ago.  I even made a little program to help our DM in his duties.  As a culture, we've lost a lot of real time face to face interaction with people.  That may not be a bad thing considering the degradation of civility these days.

🙂 🙂 🙂 Happy thoughts make happy slaves 🙂 🙂 🙂
