Good morning brothers

I've decided to spoil myself this Christmas. Going to get myself a decent sound system.

Currently running my music through my laptop and a set of Creative 2.1 speakers. Any suggestions for a kickass setup? Or can direct me to a website with info so I can make an informed decision?

I have a generous budget put aside for this.

Many thanks

Rock on! I decided to do the same and bought a new television. Life without a parasite is wonderful!

These are beauty incarcerated. Good reviews also.

I've just gotten back from a visit to a meeting with our general! I've just been promoted and given a 14th check as an incentive bonus for all the extra work I've put in. Apparently I've managed 400 years conviction in the last year! I can honestly thank my ex, because of her I've managed to put in the extra hours.

I'm slightly drunk but ecstatic at this achievement! MGTOW really works!

Thanks brothers for being there!!!

I have been using a logitec 5.1 computer speaker system for a while now.  The phone plugs in easily, and it gets used with the desktop and playstation.  It has 5 speakers and a sub box and cost about $150...

I would love a 1000+ watt stereo system, perhaps a Bose, but my neighbors already bitch too much 😈

Crutchfield is a site I've been using for over 30 years and they are awesome.

Have fun researching your new "home entertainment system".   Does your building/neighborhood have a noise ordinance?

So he can just buy both Matcha ... "I have a generous budget put aside for this."!

Wonder if he would splurge for a few extra recliners for guests?

I am really curious as to what on earth Gargamel or The Evil Genius would have to say about getting a new sound-system primarily for music and console-gaming, when there is the opportunity to spend some money on long lasting high end quality products. With "high end" I do not necessarily mean high cost, but audio performance!

There is a hefty downside to high audio performance, tho, which the buyer should be aware of, before getting such a system! It is the lacking recording quality of most of contemporary music. You will be able to hear that and it will hurt your sense for aesthetic, actually how abysmally bad, lacking and loveless most of the recordings have been produced. Many/most of the (especially modern/digitally produced) songs you have heard on the radio (in pubs, clubs, movies, elevators and supermarkets) actually sound like shit - given you have a (I´m going on a limb, here) playback option that does not compress and cut off many of the high frequencies, but gives you a true sound.

The best place for audio quality is...

surprise...surprise...

Youtube.

Actually the original music videos like from Vevo and stuff. Not all though. That stuff doesn't have added noise like with CDs.

What has this (the medium) to do with the quality of the audio equipment? Youtube does not deliver you an amp and loudspeakers, does it?

If it is a high quality product not necessarily expensive, it should produce the sound fairly well and enjoyable too.

Converting to US$ about $5000

My promotion came with a nice 14th cheque, and been saving for the last few months. Being divorced, I've managed alot of overtime and was quite shocked when my bank wanted to upgrade my account. I wasnt keeping track of my balance. It was a WTF moment when I drew a full statement and saw exactly how much I have managed to save in such a short time.

My ambition is to have a full setup, with LP, CD and MP3 playback. Im not looking for volume, but purity of tone. I enjoy everything from hard rock, to symphony. I have a separate budget to upgrade my living space to enhance the acoustics, and a lazy boy chair to enjoy my music in. The sound will not be used for gaming.

I have decided to hold off the purchase till about march. Then the xmas prices start dropping. Dont need the instant gratification.

I used to be married, but I'm better now

The thing with high end speakers is that most don't go down to 20 Hz and you will feel the need for it once you have a decent setup. That is why a lot of setups are in 2.2 i.e. 2 speakers and 2 subs.

The ones I know that go down to 30 Hz are by BIC America and cost about $1500 a pair. If you want top notch quality KEF LS 50 are good. Another good company is Swans.

NAD and Marantz make good amps. SVS for subs. I don't listen to Vinyls so don't know about turntables.

I think it's important to decide upon how much bass response you want. It's quite possible to have a system that accurately reproduces the sound of the 32' subcontrabass on a pipe organ which has it's primary tones between 20 to 40 Hz. However, a lot of sound systems can't manage this. It's also important to consider how much room you have available as subwoofers at this level of performance start to resemble small appliances in size. Those 20 to 40hz waves will ignore such minor things as interior walls of apartment buildings so that is yet another consideration. I will caution that I am not up on the most current systems available as I am content the system I have. Sort of like the man who purchased a 60's GTO and never traded it in for a newer sports car.

YouTube audio is only 128 Kbit which is only a faint blueprint of the original high-quality source.

Good enough for MGTOW videos but sounds "glassy" on real music.

128k MP4 / AAC is better than MP3 but still missing depth, ambience, detail - aka the "soul" of the music is lost.

Forever Uncunted - If it has a vagina, it has to go!
