Tazewell County Virginia RESURRECTS the 2d Amendment
Several Southwest Virginia communities have passed resolutions to become Second Amendment sanctuaries, but Tazewell County took it a step further. On December 3, the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors passed two resolutions:
The first resolution declared Tazewell County a Second Amendment sanctuary, meaning the county declared it would not provide funding for any effort that would infringe upon its citizens’ Second Amendment rights.
The second resolution emphasized the right to a well-funded and regulated militia described in the U.S. Constitution and Commonwealth’s constitution.
According to Travis Hackworth, the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors Chairman, the resolution allocates funding from the county budget for the purpose of funding and maintaining a well-regulated militia.
Now why is this important? Most battling over the 2d Amendment focuses on the individual right to bear arms. BUT the actual Amendment reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Thus the Amendment is actually TWO parts. It recognizes BOTH the individual right and the State's right to form militias.
So what happened to the first part of this amendment? Where did it go? Actually it went nowhere it is just ignored and/or assumed that "militia" means US army. Does it? Lets see. Article 2 section 2, Clause 1 of the US Constitution states: "The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;"
Thus the Militia and the Army are clearly two different things under the US Constitution. AND since the 2d Amendment has not been repealed (to my knowledge) the rights of the States to a militia is still viable---and apparently the folks in Tazewell County decided to breath new life in a long forgotten part of the Amendment. KUDOS to those guys.
Yep, one cannot just ignore these facts in the hopes they would therefore somehow go away. This is why these things are put on paper instead of verbally carried on from one to another! So you can read for yourself what has actually been written down and defined to make sure virtually everyone could understand. The ignoring or downplaying of the militia as described in the 2nd Amendment and Article 2 is a highly questionable modus operandi that has been going on for a long time and ought not only to be challenged, but to be put to rest as an obstruction of the constitutional rights and duties.
Viewed from this perspective the Tazewell County officials are serving a good cause in bringing the needed attention to what the constitution and especially its 2nd Amendment actually are all about.
This site has been a scam from the start. I am outta here.
