Hey, day late and dollar short, here is this weeks organ extravaganza.  During the government shutdown we are forced to survive on our own, so I will fill in as best as I can until the real hero returns.  Ear plugs are in the box, and sick bags are under the seats!

We will start it out with a little Danish piece I call 'Organ Grinder', performed by the local musician of fairytaletown Ebeltoft, Denmark.

History of street organs!   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_organ

Here is a fusion of new and old, 'Smooth Criminal' performed by the Organ Guy.

Watch Professor Tolzmann crank out 'Do not feed the monkey' on his Pell Busker Organ at the Festa Italiana, St Paul, Minnesota, September 24, 2011.

Get well PETE!

Bill has worked in a pickle factory for several years. One day he confesses to his wife that he has a terrible urge to stick his penis into the pickle slicer. His wife suggests that he see a therapist to talk about it, but Bill vows to overcome this rash desire on his own.

A few weeks later, Bill returns home absolutely ashen. His wife asks, "What's wrong, Bill?"

"Do you remember how I told you about my tremendous urge to put my penis into the pickle slicer?"

His wife gasps, "My God, Bill, what happened?"

"I got fired."

"No, Bill -- I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?"

"Oh, um, she got fired, too."

The pipes aren't tuned very well and the pressure regulator is WAY off, but it has a lovely tone about it...

Will Hudson wrote "Organ Grinder's Swing" in 1936; Ella Fitzgerald recorded it in 1936, and Jimmy Smith recorded it in 1965 in his style of jazz. Here is Mike Reed's style of tearing-up the swing on his Hammond Organ [yes, the stringed-bass is played with his little feet.....] which is the way organists should play the bass!!!!!!! Crank it, son!

God bless men, have fun and stay warm!!  SEE YA!

The pictures would take a while to load and become visible, so I wondered, what an organ grinder might actually be and why I should not feed the monkey.

🤣

I thought an organ grinder would grind and polish the pipes. You know, for maintenance as they only sound pure, when grinded, polished, rubbed and waxed the right way.

Sounds logical and well thought out, eh?

The good news is ... A post was made on Friday that was musically oriented.

The bad news is the T.E.G.'s computer will be delivered and he'll be back on the forum mid week.  Why Bad you say ... think about what his comments "might" be about Organ Grinders being linked with the term "Music"......  😏

Thanks for stepping up Buck.

He should leave his computer outside during lightning storms, less chance of him and his home being struck!

That  Hammond produces a fairly realistic Theater Organ sound. It's good to see one of those organs being played rather than gathering dust, like it does in so many living rooms. I hope that organist has many years of "crankin' it" ahead of him.

The current issues were related to the OS and actual parts showing their age and needing to be services.  Hopefully Uly will post something on the Computer/Tech forum regarding his suggested annual "maintenance and service" checks.  I admit to hearing several of them for the very first time, while others fell into the category of "I knew that, but I'm not doing it".
