Just thought I'd share....

A few years ago my job security flew out the window. A small IT company staffed by the boss, the accounts lady, the IT Guru and myself.

The boss was diagnosed with cancer about three years ago and the job I thought I had for life suddenly became temporary. I had 5k in the bank and virtually no assets aside from my car and personal possessions. I was spending a fair bit on naughty females and realised that was an expense I had to remove if I didn't want to starve later.

So I pissed off the needy females and started saving. The business was eventually sold along with myself to new owners, another IT company. Things changed so much and I wasn't happy in my new role and was looking to leave and felt a bit more secure with two and a half years of solid savings behind me.

Out of the blue a month ago the CEO told me my role was being made redundant and I would receive a payout for my fourteen years of prior service.

So now I'm moving out of this expensive modern apartment to live in my van and bum around for a few months while looking to purchase a block of land or cheap country house.

Today is my last day in this city and tomorrow is the first day of my new life. I'd love to share my new adventure with you guys on the off-chance anyone is interested.

Side note: I didn't realise how expensive females are, the reality is incredible and I wonder how much I have frittered away on the slags over the course of my life. In under 3 years I saved enough to buy land or a cheap house in a country with unbelievably expensive property prices.

Cheers till my next update. 👍

Absolutely!

Right now there are still a lot of opportunities available, especially for a man who isn't tied down and has many options available.

Good luck and can't wait to hear more.  Do I see a new book "The Road to Independence" in the near future?

I hope you are doing well, sorry to hear you lost your job after 14 years. This is also one of my main fears, during this worrying time.

Latest update is I'm happier now than I have been for a long time. Packed up all my stuff and put into storage. Been staying with a friend for the last week just outside the capital city and been playing with sports cars, drones and puppies. Prepped the van to drive 500 miles to northern NSW in search of land or house. Applied for social security which should be easy during the CCP Covid1984 pandemic and I won't have to eat into my savings. I'm eating pizzas, hamburgers, Asian food and drinking Jack Daniels. Bit cold as mid winter is on us here in the land down-under but is a refreshing change from the usual oppressive summers that we have to endure.

Can't get the image to display so here is a link....

I'm shortly for bed Hog - but I'm genuinely raising what's left in my glass of whisky to you buddy!!

I'm chuffed to bits that your mind is happier and your goals are clear.

Happy motoring - and the best of luck with the job-hunting.

And....remember... whatever time of year it is right now......summer is ALWAYS coming!!!

Awesome! The picture is very inspiring.  My cuisine is a bit simpler, but I am also enjoying the whiskey and cold Coors Lite.

I am still searching for a new place to homestead myself.  It's the middle of summer here in the Northwoods, USA and with the humidity you have to wring out your bedroll every morning.  At least when I bathe in the lake I'm not freezing my ass off, it's very refreshing!

Life is so good without the constant nagging, whiny, high pitched drill of the female voice penetrating one's skull!

Enjoy every second, Brother!  Later in life it will be these times you will remember and cherish!

I'll drink one on your tonight, brother!

Have you thought about adopting one of those puppies so you can travel together? It'll become your best buddy for life!

@the-hog

You're an inspiration to everyone on this forum. And yes nature is more therapeutic than any female.

Adopting a puppy would slow the current mission. Wrong sort of doggie as well, King Charles Spaniels are more little girls dogs. I will most likely get a puppy once I settle down but would go for a Border Collie or a Jack Russel.

This is Valentino and belongs to a young female (23) who leaves him with mom and dad for long periods. I've been a bad influence on him as I brought him his first stick and now he has a stick fetish. Loves turning sticks into matchwood. He really prefers the company of guys and would rather hang outside with me than be mollycoddled by friend's wife.

How is your new adventure coming along?  What kind of obstacles have you overcome?  Any help or ideas needed?

The pictures were awesome Hog! I'm sure things will work out and you will enjoy your freedom. Sadly circumstance compels me to respond to Old Buck's plebeian taste in "music". (SIGH)!

The Sydney Opera House Grand Organ is the world's largest mechanical tracker-action pipe organ. It is located in the concert hall of Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia.

And by the way I've heard Cameron Carpenter play in person when he was about 15 in Asheville.

Then there is the organ in Sydney town hall:

HAH!  🤣

This started as a listing of some Australian groups that I enjoyed in the 80's.  It was an attempt to create a tempo with the music choices, like classical music does.  Unfortunately I took so long to construct the post, the edit feature timed out and I had to reassemble it the next morning.

I am hoping Hog responds by posting some of his favorites, and complete trashing of his dislikes!

Some newer pieces have been added, Old Buck's Sonnet of the South continues...

I'm overwhelmed with your depth of knowledge and experience of 80's music. 😉

@pistolpete

The best experience is living thru it!

Mortification, by the way, is a Christian rock band.  They took the heavy "satanic" sound and proclaimed the word of God and Jesus Christ thru their music.  I had saved the best for last!

Amazing how much has changed in the US nation and the world since these times.
